Converting offices into apartments is a growing trend in North Texas, and now that’s coming to a signature office tower just north of downtown Dallas, along with a hotel and conference center conversion previously announced in 2020.
According to the Dallas Morning News’ Steve Brown, Dallas-based NexPoint plans to convert eight floors of the 42-story Cityplace Tower into rental apartments at a cost of $61.5 million. That will be in addition NexPoint’s development of a 222-room hotel and conference center at Cityplace, a $136.2 million project that was announced in 2020 but delayed by the pandemic.
Citing a recent investor presentation made by NexPoint, the DMN reports that “98 high-end class A multifamily units” will be developed on floors 34 to 41 of the tower—with completion of both the hotel and apartments slated for Q1 2025.
NexPoint bought Cityplace in 2018.
Cityplace is home to Neiman Marcus Group’s recently opened three-floor corporate hub, which we told you about in our Innovative Spaces story in June.
