Dallas Philanthropy Program Accepting Applications From Under-30s

Residents in the Dana Juett Social Venture Leadership Residency Program will learn many skills while getting the opportunity to network with philanthropic leaders from around the area.

Applications from philanthropy-focused North Texas residents under the age of 30 are being accepted for the 2018-2019 Dana Juett Social Venture Leadership Residency Program.

The program was created to give area residents a hands-on philanthropy learning experience. It was started by Social Venture Partners Dallas, the Sapphire Foundation, and Dana Juett, who was a philanthropic leader in the North Texas area.

“In Dallas, like any other major city, it is easy to find yourself in a bubble based on your neighborhood, your job, and the people with whom you surround yourself.”

The third-class of the Dana Juett Social Venture Leadership Residency Program will start in September, and last until May 2019.

Residents in the program will learn many valuable skills while getting the opportunity to network with philanthropic leaders from around the region. They also will cover a variety of topics related to philanthropy, innovation, and social impact as they learn how to grow their personal visions.

For more than 30 years, Social Venture Parnters has used the venture philosophy model to empower new philanthropists. The Social Venture Leadership Residency empowers a new generation of social leaders by guiding them into the venture philanthropy model of giving.

“Venture philanthropy combines pro-bono consulting, leadership development, and sustainable financial investment to break down the barriers to giving while building the individual’s capacity for effective philanthropy,” SVP said on its website.

“In Dallas, like any other major city, it is easy to find yourself in a bubble based on your neighborhood, your job, and the people with whom you surround yourself,” Dana Juett Residency alum Jordan Smith said in a release. “This residency pops that bubble and exposes you to the true nature of the city — both the challenges it faces and the wonderful opportunities to overcome them and to do good better.”

Applications are open until Aug. 3, and can be found on Social Venture Partners Dallas’ website.
