Paul Gaffney has been named the first chief digital officer at Dallas-based Omni Logistics, a technology-driven provider of global multimodal logistics solutions and specialized supply chain services.
“Omni Logistics had been on my radar for some time as the company and its leadership team presented a bold and unique vision that stood out in the logistics and transport sector. The opportunity to join the company and be part of the broader digital transformation to better serve our customers is very exciting,” Gaffney said in a statement. “In my role at Omni, I hope to build and strengthen the platforms and systems that answer our customers’ most pressing challenges with data-backed solutions.”
In his new role, Gaffney will help Omni Logistics define and execute its digital strategy, including digital transformation initiatives, connection of operations systems, and optimization of digital customer platforms.
He brings more than three decades of experience to the Omni Logistics team with senior leadership roles in supply chain as well as technology at well-known brands.
Before coming to Omni, Gaffney was Kohl’s chief technology and supply chain officer. He also worked at Charles Schwab as its senior vice president of technology where he launched Schwab’s active trader platform.
Previously, Gaffney also worked as the executive vice president of supply chain for Staples, senior vice president of Home Depot, and chief technology officer of DICK’s Sporting Goods.
Supply chain and technology expertise
The company said that Gaffney has a diverse background in developing industry-leading software, having patented multiple solutions, as well as managing global supply chains for major retailers.
Gaffney is a 2009 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, an international nonprofit organization that fosters conversations with some of the brightest leaders globally.
“We are honored to have Paul Gaffney join the Omni Logistics leadership team. Paul is a key component in our vision to scale the company and deepen our relationships with customers and providers,” Omni Logistics CEO JJ Schickel said in a statement. “In a technology driven world, we are passionate about having someone who brings supply chain and technology expertise to the platforms and solutions that can further differentiate Omni’s position as a leader in the logistics industry.”
The company said it’s leveraged technology to help reduce complexity. Its investments in technology and digital transformation allow Omni to be more efficient and create a better customer experience to view and navigate traditional logistics problems.
Omni Logistics is a privately-owned, multibillion-dollar global logistics solutions provider with over 5,000 employees in more than 100 locations serving the complex supply chain needs of nearly 7,000 customers.
