Rental electric scooters returned to Dallas streets in May as part of the city’s new micromobility program, so you may have seen some Bird, Lime, and Superpedestrian e-scooters zipping around lately. But those are limited to 10 MPH in busy places like Deep Ellum, and can only reach top speeds of up to 20 MPH when fully zipping.
If you really feel the need for speed on an e-scooter, a Dallas-based company just launched two new options.
GOTRAX announced today that it’s launched its latest scooters, the GX1 and GX2. The first can reach speeds up to 32 miles per hour, while the GX2 tops out at a wind-whipping 36 MPH.
The company said the scooters are “almost sold out” already.
“Due to pre-orders getting first priority there will be a very limited inventory, with an estimated restocking date of October 2023,” GOTRAX announced.
Dual motors clock in at 800 watts on the GX2
To reach up to 36 MPH requires some serious power, so both models come with dual motors. The GX1’s motors clock in at 600 watts, while the GX2 offers 800 watts.
The GX1 features a 48V 15AH Lithium-ion Battery (720Wh); the GX2 battery kicks that up to 48V 20AH and 960Wh. That can get you up to 25 or 37 miles per charge, respectively, GOTRAX says.
Both models have full front and rear suspension, three speed settings
10″ by 3″ air-filled tires, LED Lighting, and LED headlights and tail lights.
You can see the scooters and their prices on the GOTRAX site.
But if you want to go even super crazier faster, you’ll have to look beyond Dallas to the Qiewa Q-Power 2. While heftier, it still looks and rides like the stand-up scooter in the photo above. But the Qiewa’s top speed is a blistering 60 miles per hour—enough to pass some cars on LBJ Freeway, if it wasn’t designated for off-road use only.
Get on the list.
