Calling all kids with big dreams — these events, both on Nov. 17, offer kids the chance to pitch their business ideas, earn mentorship opportunities, and more.
The Kidpreneur Expo
This one-day event gives kids a chance to meet other young entrepreneurs while developing their own creative talents. Twenty “kidpreneurs” will get the chance to pitch their business ideas to local celebrities and entrepreneurs in the expo’s very own version of “Shark Tank,” titled “Kid Tank.” Winners will vie for the chance to win cash prizes of up to $1,000 and the opportunity for mentorship.
“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders.”
– Jeff Sandefer
Around 30 “kidpreneurs” will also present their businesses in an exposition setting with a variety of products. Capital One is presenting this event, which will feature young entrepreneur Kheris Rogers, the founder of “Flexin’ in My Complexion.”
The Kidpreneur Expo will take place at St. Philip’s School and Community Center in Dallas from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free.
DFW Children’s Business Fair
This event offers kids a completely hands-on experience as they create a product or service, develop a brand, build a marketing strategy, and then open for business during the one-day fair. From setup to sales to customer interactions, everything is in the hands of the kids. No help from parents is allowed.
“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders,” Jeff Sandefer, founder of the Acton School of Business, said in a statement. “The Children’s Business Fair gives students the opportunity to spread their entrepreneurial wings and get a head start on promising business careers.”
These young entrepreneurs can walk away with cash prizes in categories like “Greatest Business Potential,” “Most Innovative Idea,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.”
The free DFW Children’s Business Fair will take place at The Grapevine REC in Grapevine from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Both of these events offer kids the opportunity to jumpstart their careers and see what their futures can hold.
