CRE Veteran Joins Colt McCoy at HPI’s Fort Worth Office

Matt Montague has been hired as executive managing director of HPI's new Fort Worth office. He joins HPI Partner and former NFL and UT quarterback McCoy, who opened the office in February to expand the firm’s reach across Texas.

Austin-based full-service real estate firm HPI has made its first key hire in Fort Worth with Matt Montague, a 17-year commercial real estate veteran. He joins former NFL and UT quarterback Colt McCoy at HPI’s new Fort Worth office as executive managing director.

HPI Partner McCoy opened the Fort Worth office in February to expand the firm’s reach across Texas. McCoy says Montague’s team mindset and deep relationships in his hometown of Fort Worth made him a clear standout for his first hire.

“Matt is first class in every way,” McCoy said in a statement. “His leadership, experience, and strong values completely align with what we are building here at HPI. Bringing Matt on board is a crucial piece to our success, and his deep industry knowledge gives us a real edge here in Fort Worth.”

In his career, Montague has closed upwards of 500 deals totaling over $1.5 billion.

“One of the things that attracted me most to HPI was the people,” Montague said. “I have always tried to be intentional about aligning myself with strong character, high-integrity partners, and the opportunity at HPI is just that. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to join such a high-caliber team.”

HPI said it’s creating a full-service platform in Fort Worth, from third-party leasing and management to development and acquisition.

Montague brings extensive experience across multiple aspects of the business including tenant representation, agency leasing, land transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and investment and development, the firm said.

“Matt has a stellar reputation, and his body of work speaks for itself,” McCoy said. “He has a diverse perspective. He’s seen commercial real estate deals from all sides, and that will give us an edge.”

Montague said the biggest growth is yet to come.

“Fort Worth is in the top of the first inning relative to its growth and maturation,” he said. “With the HPI team and platform behind us, we’re best positioned to make an impact.”

HPI was founded in 1992 with four employees and 1 million square feet of properties. Today it employs more than 200 people in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and now Fort Worth, serving 900 clients across almost 30 million square feet.
