In 1923, the building was home to the Newland Hotel and a Piggly Wiggly grocery story in The Cedars neighborhood directly south of downtown Dallas. Now known as Cedars Corner, its first floor is an incubator of sorts for a distinctive collection of Black and women-owned businesses committed to bringing life back to the historic space.
