Last Thursday evening, Trammell S. Crow hosted a "Half Earth Day" event at his home to "celebrate Mother Nature, Texas Style." But there was another reason to revel: EarthxTV, broadcasting 24/7 from Oak Lawn in Dallas, is channeling change. The global network reaches over 60 million homes in more than 70 countries—and has new a"100% environmental news" program.

Some of America’s favorite movies are filled with campy, schlock-y, over-the-top fun—and a lot them were filmed right here in Texas. This weekend, the city of Garland and Garland Cultural Arts are gearing up to celebrate them with the first annual It Came From Texas Film Festival, October 28 and 29 at the Plaza Theater on State Street in Garland.

The Fort Worth Film Commission, a division of Visit Fort Worth, is partnering with the Lone Star Film Society to produce the 2023 Lone Star Film Festival Gala, set for November 10 at Hotel Drover in Fort Worth, and the festival itself, which runs November 2-5 at various locations in Fort Worth.

The Piehole Project, a Dallas-based "virtual pie auction," is back for its fourth year October 19-29. Crafted by 27 Dallas chefs, this year's pies have a "Superheroes" theme and will raise money for grants that support continuing education within restaurant and hospitality-focused nonprofits.

The Decorator Show House is a major fundraiser for Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in New York, as well as local Dallas charities Dwell with Dignity and The Crystal Charity Ball. Foundation 45, a local nonprofit that offers free mental health and recovery services to the Dallas-Fort Worth creative community, is hosting the event October 21 in Deep Ellum. The organization was founded by the the former drummer of the band Spector 45 after two of his bandmates committed suicide, and strives to help other creatives on their own struggles with mental health.
