Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer said it will open a new Embraer-owned service center at the Perot Field Alliance Airport in Fort Worth. The center will mark an expansion and an up-to-$70 million investment in the company’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services network to support its growing fleet of E-Jets.
Embraer said that in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, Denton County, and the State of Texas, it expects to begin operations in an existing hangar at the beginning of the second quarter of 2025 while building a second hangar that should be finished by 2027.
The company said that with the new facilities, its capacity to serve E-Jet customers will increase by 53% in the United States. The investment will reach up to $70 million and is expected to create roughly 250 new aviation jobs in Texas, the company added.
The Fort Worth City Council okayed tax incentives for the project on Oct. 15.
“We are excited to receive the final approval for this important expansion of our MRO business that supports our continued investment in the U.S. market,” Carlos Naufel, president and CEO of Embraer Services & Support, said in a statement. “We have a long-standing relationship with the State of Texas and look forward to our partnership with Hillwood at Alliance, and the opening of this new service center will create hundreds of highly skilled jobs in a vital segment for the aviation industry.”
Ross Perot Jr, chairman and CEO of AllianceTexas developer Hillwood, said in a statement that the new center would further strengthen the “region’s role as a key hub for aerospace innovation, while ensuring that Embraer can efficiently support its expanding fleet of commercial jets in the U.S.”
Embraer calls its twin-engine, narrow-body E-Jet “a regional jet with ‘the big jet’ feel.” The line offers four different models that seat between 70 and 100 passengers. According to the company website, more than 700 of the jets are currently in service.
The new service center will be added to Embraer’s global network, which includes 80 authorized centers and 12 owned service centers around the world.
Officials welcome new airport center
Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, said the airport project is a testament to Fort Worth’s robust aerospace and defense sector, while Robert Sturns, director of economic development for the City of Fort Worth, said it’s another indication of the city’s leadership in aviation.
Denton County Judge Andy Eads said the new center creates new opportunities.
“This project is part of our growing aviation industry in Denton County, thanks in part to our longstanding partnership with Hillwood,” Eads said in a statement. “The expansion of Embraer here will assist other aviation companies across the North Texas Region. In addition, through this deal, Denton County residents will have access to these well-paying career opportunities.”
The project shows the benefits of partnering with Hillwood, Denton County Precinct 4 Commissioner Dianne Edmondson added.
