A Fort Worth-based solar energy company led 184 other Dallas-Fort Worth companies whose three-year growth rates placed them in this year’s Inc. 5000 list.

EnviroSolar Power ranked No. 2 nationally on the list with a growth rate of 36,065 percent during the three-year period from 2013 to 2016. The list was topped by San Francisco esports company Skillz with a growth rate of 50,059 percent.

EnviroSolar, a reboot for entrepreneur Abraham Issa, had $37.4 million in revenue in 2016 and has 85 employees, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Other DFW companies in the Top 100 were:

  • No. 30 — Spar Information Systems of Plano
  • No. 72 — S2 Capital of Addison
  • No. 78 — Linux Academy of Keller
  • No. 82 — Anovia Payments of Irving

DFW’s performance on the list is roughly the same as last year, when nearly 200 companies made the Inc. 5000 list. In 2015, 168 companies from DFW made the rankings.

To be included in the list, companies must submit revenue verification forms, corporate tax returns, or audited financial statements. The companies had to have $2 million in revenue or more in 2016 to qualify.

Texas had 425 companies on the 2017 list, trailing only to California’s 670.

How did DFW fare against other large Texas metro areas? Great. DFW’s 185 beat Houston’s 113 and Austin’s 91.
