Irving-based BioNTX, a leading bioscience and healthcare innovation network, said it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Allen-based Indian Institute of Science Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers individuals and institutions to invest in the future of scientific innovation and education in India via its partnership with the Bengaluru, India-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
The institute in Bengaluru is one of India’s most prestigious research universities, bringing world-class innovation focused on supporting global clinical research, medical education, and affordable healthcare innovation.
“BioNTX is proud to enter into this relationship with the Indian Institute of Science Foundation working closely with IISc, an institution whose history, values, and vision for innovation align closely with our own,” BioNTX CEO Kathleen Otto-Rosenblum said in a statement. “This partnership reflects our mutual commitment to advancing science, equity, and impact through translational research and shared access to opportunity.”
BioNTX said the agreement formalizes a collaborative framework to build long-term ties between the Indian and North Texas life sciences ecosystems and the memorandum of understanding reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to accelerating translational research and driving innovation that improves healthcare access and outcomes for populations worldwide.
Aligned values and goals
BioNTX said that at the heart of the collaboration is “a powerful alignment of values and strategic goals.”
BioNTX envisions North Texas as a globally recognized bioscience corridor where innovation, commercialization, and inclusive access to healthcare are supported through cross-sector collaboration. Its mission is to build a strong, resilient ecosystem that accelerates scientific discovery, supports entrepreneurial growth, and expands healthcare innovation across borders.
The Indian Institute of Science is a global leader in research, engineering, and now medicine. With the launch of its new TATA Medical School and the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital, IISc is pioneering an interdisciplinary model for medical education that unites clinical training, basic science, MedTech development, and translational research. Its mission is to improve the health of the next seven billion people on the planet through innovation, empathy, and access.
Together, BioNTX and IISc Foundation said they will work to create new opportunities for research collaboration, bilateral knowledge sharing, and the development of healthcare models that serve both local and global communities.
Partnering to ‘bring impactful, affordable healthcare solutions’
Under the terms of the memorandum, BioNTX and IISc Foundation will collaborate in the following areas:
• Ecosystem Exchange and Delegation Support: BioNTX will host visiting delegations from IISc and facilitate curated meetings with academic institutions, MedTech companies, investors, and clinical research leaders in the United States.
• Strategic Communications: BioNTX will amplify the work and impact of IISc’s medical and translational research efforts across its communications platforms, including newsletters, podcasts, and ecosystem events.
• Collaborative Programming: Both parties will co-develop high-impact events, global symposia, and thought leadership platforms to accelerate the development and accessibility of next-generation medical technologies.
“This partnership with BioNTX represents an important milestone in IISc Foundation’s mission to expand IISc’s global collaborations in healthcare innovation,” George Brody, the Allen-based president of IISc Foundation, said in a statement. “We’re committed to engaging with like-minded institutions around the world to build new scientific frontiers and bring impactful, affordable healthcare solutions to the populations that need them most.”
