Biological drugs, also known as “biologics,” are drugs derived from or containing living organisms or components of them. Although this may sound far-fetched, the biologics industry actually spans a wide range of products, from vaccines to gene therapy drugs. And now, with the opening of LakePharma’s Dallas office, this technology hits even closer to home.
Founded in 2009, LakePharma has spent the last decade working with antibodies, DNA vectors, viral vectors, cell lines, proteins, and conjugates. It has contributed to the development of over 200 therapeutic or diagnostic products and plans to do so for hundreds more.
The new office will help LakePharma meet the growing demand for integrated biologics services, according to the company’s CEO, Hua Tu. With operations already in California and Massachusetts, the Dallas site will be LakePharma’s debut in the South.
“The expansion of our new Dallas office demonstrates our commitment to provide top-notch services to our clients,” Tu said in a statement. “This site complements our integrated biologics development services, further enhancing our ability to offer competitive end-to-end solutions.”
Dedicated to advancing research in the field, LakePharma has published 12 scientific papers and has hosted a yearly symposium on the latest developments in the industry since 2013. Its 2019 symposium, slated for October, will focus on the discovery, development, and manufacturing of next-generation therapeutics.
