SER National, an Irving nonprofit geared toward improving education and employment for Hispanics and other underserved populations, will host its first Community Day event for students trying to plan their futures.
SER National invites high school and college students as well as community members to attend this informative, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math-focused event. The day will feature workshops on engineering, NASA, medicine and aviation careers, and army benefits. There also will be a job fair and college awareness sessions for both students and parents, clarifying the confusing process of applying for federal financial aid.
Retired NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez is set to be the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Robert Garza, president of Mountain View College; Ignacio Salazar, president and CEO of SER National; and Lt. Col. James Zoizack of U.S. Army’s Dallas Recruiting Battalion.
Community Day will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 17 at Mountain View College, following the two-day annual SER National Conference at Crowne Plaza-Dallas, which will feature a student robotics and drone completion.
