A New York health-care startup has opened a new marketplace for Texas nurses who are on the hunt to freelance.
With more than $4 million in venture capital funding, digital staffing startup, Nomad Health, is branching out in Texas to widen the freelance market for nurses, The Dallas Morning News’ Sabriya Rice reported.
Normally, freelancers contract with recruiting agencies to find practices. Nomad Health’s digital platform algorithm matches nurses by licensing, dates available, location, and other details.
The company then receives a portion of the nurse’s commission, the Morning News reported.

The new tool allows nurses to skip interacting with recruiters and take matters into their own hands. Users are able to create their own schedule and choose the best locations for them.
Released last year, the company’s first product matched freelance doctors by using the same algorithm.
The company is currently available in 14 states including Texas and California. By 2018, it hopes to spread to all 50 states, adding to each health-care market. the Morning News reported.
“We want to mobilize latent capacity in the health-care system,” Nomad Health CEO Dr. Alexi Nazem told the Morning News.
