White Castle—a 105-year-old Ohio-based chain known for selling burgers “by the sack”—has announced plans to open its first-ever Texas location at Grandscape in The Colony.
On June 2, White Castle will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the location at 4520 Destination Drive— complete with spatula shovels and a ceremonial “sprinkling of the onions” on the future grill site. The brand’s famous sliders will be served once the digging is finished.
The groundbreaking will feature remarks by White Castle leadership—including fourth-generation members of the brand’s founding family—along with appearances by elected officials, development partners, and local “cravers” of White Castle’s offerings.
The brand’s leaders appearing at the event will include CMO Jamie Richardson, Chief People Officer John Kelley, Corporate Relations Manager Erin Shannon. Also on hand will be Chris Shaffery, SVP of restaurant operations and operation services, and Mike Guinan, VP of restaurant operations. Kelley and Shannon’s great-grandfather founded White Castle in 1921.
