IKEA To Open First Dallas Store Next Week Near NorthPark

Opening on March 11 at The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas, the smaller-format store clocks in at 63,000 SF across two levels, with more than 3,200 products available for immediate takeaway. (And yes, that includes meatballs you can eat in the store.)

It’s not as cavernous as the ones in Frisco and Grand Prairie—the stores with aisles so endless, you can lose track of the space-time continuum. But the IKEA opening in Dallas next week offers something huge: location.

Now, instead of driving to nearby cities to buy products like BJÖRKSTA, NYSKÖLJD, and SNÖDROTTNING, Dallas shoppers will have an IKEA as close as NorthPark. Right across the street from it, in fact.

Located in The Shops at Park Lane at the southeast corner of Park and I-75, the smaller-format store clocks in at 63,000 square feet across two levels. When it opens at 10 a.m. on March 11, customers will find more than 3,200 products available for immediate takeaway. Plus, IKEA’s full product range will be available for free store pickup or “affordable” home delivery.

Just like at IKEA’s huge big-box stores, this smaller one will showcase “signature IKEA room settings that help customers easily visualize solutions for their homes and spark new ideas,” IKEA says.

Meatballs? For sure.

One other thing that’s coming to the IKEA off Park Lane? Those Swedish meatballs that generations of shoppers have chowed down at stores worldwide. The “full Swedish food experience” will also include favorites like plant balls, hot dogs, and veggie dogs that can be eaten in the store or taken home.

“We’re excited to celebrate the grand opening of IKEA Dallas-University Park and share the IKEA experience with members of the Dallas community,” Ben Sandoval, market manager of IKEA U.S., said in a statement. “From finding inspiration for your dream space to enjoying a taste of Sweden, we can’t wait for you to experience the joy of making yourself at home [in this new location].”

On opening day next Wednesday, IKEA expects shoppers to line up well before the doors open at 10 a.m. Giveaways, coffee, and cinnamon buns will be available to those hardcore fans starting at 8 a.m., the company says.

Regular store hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

IKEA’s experience-enhancing strategy

Dallas’ new smaller-format store is part of IKEA’s strategy of “enhancing the customer experience with a variety of customer meeting points and locations that complement each other and meet people’s different needs.”

Beyond opening “a smaller, convenient and inspiring shopping experience” for Dallas shoppers, the brand said it has also made “significant investments” to enhance its e-commerce experience and service offerings—including new IKEA Family benefits, lower priced shipping and delivery, Click & collect, and TaskRabbit assembly services.

Other IKEAs opening in Texas in 2026

IKEA Dallas-University Park (yes, that’s the official name of the one coming to Shops at Park Lane), is the eighth IKEA store in Texas. And it’s the first of three new stores IKEA plans to open in the state in 2026. Two others will be opening “soon” in Rockwall, just east of Dallas, and in Webster, a suburb of Houston.

As for The Shops at Park Lane, IKEA is just one of the new tenants opening doors there recently. Other new tenants include Crème + Crepes, Connect Studio DFW, and Intuit Turbo Tax. Recent openings also include American Girl, ASI Gymnastics, and ASI NINJA.

Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, which owns and operates the center, said that as one of the largest global retail brands, “IKEA will be a gamechanger for our project, and we feel fortunate that IKEA chose The Shops at Park Lane to plant its flag in core Dallas.”

“This new location plays into the larger growth story happening now in Dallas and fits perfectly with our proximity to SMU, The Village Dallas, and Uptown,” Kampf added in a statement.
