Inaugural Class Announced for 2026 Texas Disability Hall of Fame

Neva Fairchild, Charmaine Solomon, and Clay Boatright will be honored at a North Texas Disability Chamber event on Feb. 6 at the Robinson Fine Arts Center in Plano. The event is free and open to the public. Here's how to RSVP.

The North Texas Disability Chamber (NTXDC) has announced its inaugural class of inductees for the 2026 Texas Disability Hall of Fame. The hall of fame honors leaders, advocates, and changemakers who have advanced accessibility, equity, and disability inclusion across Texas.

The Texas Disability Hall of Fame aims to be a platform to celebrate and honor outstanding leaders with and without disabilities—allies who are advancing accessibility and disability inclusion. It will recognize lifetime achievements, groundbreaking contributions, and transformative impact across Texas, while inspiring future generations by elevating stories of resilience, innovation, and leadership, the chamber said.

The North Texas Disability Chamber is a Texas, community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to convene, educate, and navigate individuals, organizations, and communities across North Texas and beyond.

The 2026 Hall of Fame inductees are:

Charmaine Solomon (Plano, Texas) – Solomon is a licensed professional counselor, parent, and special needs advocate turned founding member of My Possibilities; a continuing education adult college-like program for adults with special needs in Collin County. Charmaine is now the director for Leadership Plano, a program under the Plano Chamber of Commerce.

Neva Fairchild (Flower Mound, Texas) – Through personal lived experiences, Fairchild has years of specialized higher education and life-long career in the blindness and low-vision rehabilitation and services world. Her current and past work experiences include the Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind, Texas Commission for the Blind, Texas DARS Division for Blind Services, and American Foundation for the Blind. Currently, Neva is the owner of Experts on Blindness.

Clay Boatright (Frisco, Texas) – Clay, a staunch advocate, parent, published author of God’s Plan, Our Circus and motivational speaker, has served the Texas disability community which includes as Board President of the Arc of Dallas and Arc of Texas, founding Chairman of the Texas IDD System Redesign Advisory Committee in Austin, and appointed by President Obama to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Clay can be frequently seen advocating for improvements in support of the IDD community locally and in Austin.

The inaugural class will formally be recognized and honored at the NTXDC 2026 annual meeting on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Plano ISD’s Robinson Fine Arts Center in Plano. The event is free and the public is invited to attend, but RSVPs are required. You can RSVP by going here.
