North Texas-Based ECI Software Solutions Rolls Out New Payments Division and Expands Its AI Product Lineup

The latest launches—including new AR/AP automation and an embedded ecommerce AI Agent—mark a year of expansion for the Westlake-based software provider, backed by additional investment from Apax Partners and GIC.

ECI Software Solutions continues its momentum this year with a new Payments Division and two major product launches—an AR/AP automation suite and an embedded ecommerce AI Agent. The latest releases follow new investment from Apax Partners and GIC earlier in 2025.

The Westlake-based company created a new Payments Division and named fintech veteran Andres Ricaurte as president in October. ECI said payments have become one of its top strategic priorities and that it has “significantly increased” investment in the area to help customers accelerate cash flow, manage working capital, and strengthen their financial performance.

According to the company, its platforms process more than $7 billion in annual payments.

Payments sit at the center of how small and mid-sized businesses operate, Ricaurte said in the announcement. “By embedding fintech directly into ECI’s platforms,” he added, “we can help customers streamline cash flow, strengthen margins, and run their business with greater agility through automation and actionable insights.”

New automation tools for manufacturers and ecommerce

ECI followed the division launch with two major product releases.

The NET1 Commerce Suite, announced in November, is a unified accounts receivable and accounts payable automation platform for manufacturers using Deacom, JobBOSS², and M1. ECI said the suite simplifies receivables and payables, improves cash flow predictability, and gives SMBs real-time visibility into financial activity.

Cash in hand for small and medium-sized businesses is critical, Ricaurte said. NET1, he noted, provides “the clarity and control they need to manage cash flow more effectively and improve profitability, while also laying the foundation for AI-driven automation.”

ECI also launched its embedded ecommerce AI Agent for the EvolutionX and Spruce eCommerce platforms. The company said the tool provides real-time business insights, an AI-driven chat interface, auto-enriched product listings, and fraud detection powered by pattern recognition.

In a statement, Chris Fisher, ECI’s vice president of global ecommerce, said most small teams “don’t have the time, budget, or in-house expertise to implement advanced AI tools that typically only large companies can afford.” Bringing AI inside the platform, the VP said, gives users “a practical, simple, secure way to streamline everyday tasks [and] uncover insights in real time.”

ECI’s “practical AI” approach

ECI described the tool as part of its “Practical AI” approach, with the agent built directly into merchants’ workflows without requiring separate plug-ins.

Early adopters say the tool is already speeding up manual tasks. “Using ECI’s ecommerce AI Agent tool was genuinely impressive; it even picked up details like whether a product was biodegradable,” said Vicky Sollars of The Business Supplies Group Ltd. She said writing one product description usually takes around 20 minutes, but with the AI tool, “I managed to create 50 descriptions in just half an hour.”

On the fraud side, Clive Katz of Office Central noted the value of explainability. “It’s impressive how the AI Agent zeroed in on a suspicious order and even explained the reasoning behind its score,” he said. “Seeing it spot those tricky risk signals really builds confidence in the AI order fraud analysis.”

Additional 2025 product releases

The fall product releases follow several earlier product updates from ECI. In September, the company introduced MobileTech AI Assist, which it described as the first out-of-the-box AI-powered service tool for office technology technicians.

Embedded in the MobileTech app, the tool analyzes service ticket data and provides step-by-step repair workflows to improve first-time fix rates and reduce labor costs.

At the start of the year, ECI unveiled AvidWarranty, an AI-driven digital warranty management platform for homebuilders, and Bolt Enterprise, its end-to-end project and inventory management system for large trade contractors.

Investment from Apax Partners and GIC

In February, funds advised by Apax Partners LLP reached a definitive agreement to increase their equity stake in ECI, becoming co-control owners alongside Leonard Green & Partners. As part of the same transaction, GIC made what Apax called a “substantial new investment” to support the company’s continued growth.

According to the announcement, Apax first invested in ECI in 2017 and has since supported product development, international expansion, and 27 acquisitions. ECI said it now serves 25,000 customers in 90 countries and employs 2,100 people across 20 offices.

Apax Partner Jason Wright said ECI has “transformed into a scaled and market-leading SaaS provider,” citing a five-fold expansion in EBITDA during the investment period. ECI CEO Trevor Gruenewald said the increased investment will support the company’s work in its core verticals and accelerate its M&A activity.

25 years of growth

ECI’s origins trace back to 1999, when the company launched as OfficeSupplies.com at the start of the ecommerce boom. According to the company’s website, it later shifted its focus to developing software and ERP systems for small and mid-sized businesses and expanded through dozens of acquisitions across manufacturing, construction, distribution, office technology, and field service sectors—a total of 53 acquisitions to date.

Today, ECI provides cloud-based systems that connect daily operations—from ERP and ecommerce to payments, inventory, CRM, and mobile applications—with an increasing emphasis on embedded AI. ECI is headquartered in Westlake, Texas, with offices across North America, Europe, and Australia.
