Amazon’s already omnipresent foothold on North Texas is about to get even more, well, omnipresent. The company is beginning construction this week on a $200 million, 1.7-million-square-foot operations facility in Cleburne, about 30 miles south of downtown Fort Worth, the city of Cleburne announced.
Up to 1,000 jobs are expected to be created at the new facility, with capital investment of $200 million slated to be poured into the area, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain lauded the impact that Amazon’s decision will have on his city’s growth and future opportunities.

“On behalf of the Cleburne City Council, I’m thrilled to welcome Amazon to our community,” Cain said in a statement.. “Amazon’s strategic investment to establish a state-of-the-art facility here is a testament to Cleburne’s thriving economy, strategic location and growing potential. This investment will not only create new opportunities for our residents but also further solidify Cleburne as a key player in the region’s economic landscape.”
Jessica Breaux, senior manager of economic development for Amazon, said the facility “will allow us to better serve our customers.”
“We’re grateful for our partnership with the city of Cleburne and look forward to sharing more details about this facility in the future,” Breaux added in a statement.
