Dallas’ MW Logistics Partners with Lazer to Streamline Supply Chains with EV Fleets

Alpharetta, Georgia-based Lazer Logistics is a North American leader in EV spotters—eco-friendly semi-tractors that move large trailers around cargo yards, at warehouse facilities, and all over busy intermodal facilities. Working together, the two companies aim to streamline options "for every level of supply chains."

Aiming to help electrify and streamline yard logistics operations nationwide, Dallas-based MW Logistics has announced a partnership with Alpharetta, Georgia-based Lazer Logistics—which already operates “the most extensive third-party dedicated yard management battery electric (EV) spotter fleet in North America.”

EV spotters—also called electric yard trucks—are eco-friendly semi-tractors that move large trailers around cargo yards, at warehouse facilities, and all over busy intermodal facilities.

The collaboration is being branded as MWL EV Solutions Powered by Lazer Logistics, and is slated by the partners to be among the top electric logistics vehicle providers in the U.S. (The leading providers currently include FedEx, UPS, and Amazon.) In addition, the partnership is said to give MW Logistics the distinction of being America’s largest M/WBE (Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise) EV provider.

MW Logistics and Lazer said their collaboration aims to enhance the industry “by prioritizing sustainability and economic benefits” through an EV fleet that will reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly practices. The overarching goal: streamlining options “for every level of supply chains.”

“This is a unique opportunity for businesses to achieve Tier 1 spending while meeting and exceeding corporate sustainability goals,” said MW Logistics Founder and CEO Mitchell Ward said in a statement.

Ward founded MW Logistics in 2001. His privately held Dallas company is a non-asset, third-party logistics provider specializing in customized logistics and transportation solutions. Through partnerships with asset-based carriers, MW Logistics says it ensures reliable shipping across multiple modes—including over-the-road, rail, and bulk/tanker options. The company says it  has seen steady growth “by serving a diverse range of Fortune 500 clients and building strong carrier relationships.”

Showcasing partnership this week at the 2024 NMSDC Conference & Exchange in Atlanta

The new partnership will be showcased nationally this week at the National Minority Supplier Development Council Annual Conference & Exchange in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 20-23, marking the companies’ first public appearance together as strategic collaborators.

“This partnership spotlights Lazer’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and emphasizes our focus on environmental, social and governance initiatives,” Lazer CEO Adam Newsome said in a statement. “We always look for unique ways to grow our business, and through this partnership, we can again provide solutions that positively impact our customers.”

Founded in 1996 as Lazer Spot, Lazer Logistics is a leading provider of outsourced yard logistics, operating across over 700 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Lazer says it has surpassed 1.5 million zero-emission miles through its “industry-leading” EV Spotter Program. Its services include yard spotting, shuttling, trailer rentals, and yard management software, supported by a workforce of over 5,800 employees and a fleet of 10,000-plus assets.
