…speaking at the opening of LG’s new EV charger factory in Fort Worth.
Last Friday, LG Electronics sparked a new chapter of North Texas innovation in Fort Worth by opening its first U.S. factory for assembling EV charging stations.
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker was among the officials on hand to cut the ribbon at the new plant, which aims to support the growth of America’s EV charging infrastructure while creating new local jobs.
“We understand fully that LG is at the top of the list of of companies that’s really pushing the world forward when it comes to EV infrastructure,” Parker said at the event. “So thank you for the work that you’re doing here in America.”
LG’s new 100,000-square-foot Fort Worth plant will have an annual capacity of 12,000 units, while operating with “100% green power,” the company said, adding that it will bring “dozens of new tech jobs” to North Texas—reinforcing LG’s commitment to the region as an innovation and manufacturing hub of the future.
Mayor Parker noted that “workforce is a big piece of this, of course, as we understand the evolution of the workforce and the United States today is really focused on the emerging technologies that LG is really pushing forward.”
LG Business Solutions President Alec Jang called the EV charger business a “growth engine for LG’s future, supporting the company’s transformation into a smart solutions company.”
Following its “successful launch” of EV chargers in South Korea and the Fort Worth facility opening, LG aims to “leverage the reliability and uncompromising quality of its chargers, maintenance services and vertical sales capabilities with the goal of becoming a leader in the EV charging business around the world,” Jang said.
John Taylor of LG Electronics USA said about 60,000 square feet of the state-of-the-art facility is devoted to the new EV operations, leaving plenty of room for future expansion as this business grows in the years ahead.”
