Dallas-based global environmental consulting firm Trinity Consultants has been busy making acquisitions, announcing Thursday that it has acquired Gig Harbor, Washington-based Soundview Consultants LLC and WestLand Resources, an engineering and environmental consultancy based in Tucson, Arizona, with offices in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
On Wednesday, we told you that Trinity Consultants acquired Longman Lindsey, a New York-based full-service acoustical consultancy with specialized expertise in the construction industry. No financial details of the acquisitions have been released.
Trinity consultants is a leading global environmental consulting firm providing services and solutions in the EHS regulatory compliance, built environment, life sciences, and water and ecology markets.
Highlighting aquatic resource management
Soundview Consultants specializes in natural resource assessments, environmental planning, land use, and permitting services.
Soundview joins Trinity’s Water & Ecology team of experts from Trinity’s previous acquisitions of Minnow Aquatic Environmental Services, ECOSA, Vision Environment, Ecofish Research, AWN Consulting, and now WestLand Resources.
“Soundview embodies the principles of scientific excellence and environmental ethics that we most value in pioneering solutions for a changing climate,” Mike Remsberg, divisional president of Water & Ecology at Trinity, said in a statement. “The company’s shared values and complementary services make it a great fit, both culturally and technically, within the Trinity ecosystem. Soundview’s reputation as a marquee aquatic consulting company will augment our specialty in this area, ultimately allowing us to be stewards of a stronger, more sustainable environment.”
Trinity said that for the past 15 years, Soundview’s scientists, planners, and project managers have provided optimal site utilization and intelligent permitting strategies that carefully consider clients’ needs while balancing the complexity of the regulatory environment. Soundview provides clients with natural and aquatic resource assessments (including wetland and ordinary high-water delineations and site assessments), extensive environmental planning (analysis, code review, documentation, mapping, and negotiations), and unique mitigation planning to ensure the best use of land, favorable project entitlements and permits, and ongoing regulatory compliance for projects with complex aquatic and ecological challenges.
The Soundview acquisition highlights Trinity’s commitment to developing the company’s natural and aquatic resource consulting practice in the U.S. and complements its existing areas of expertise, including air, water, and acoustics, the company said.
“The Trinity acquisition marks the next phase of Soundview’s ongoing growth and successional planning to help protect the long-term viability of the leading environmental consultancy we have built,” Jeremy Downs, Soundview’s principal and founder, said in a statement. “This partnership enables us to ensure strong career growth opportunities for our team and expansion into new markets.”
Expanding the geographic footprint
Trinity said that WestLand’s diverse suite of services and client focus strengthens its ability to blend scientific, engineering, and planning excellence with technical innovation to solve clients’ complex planning and permitting needs.
Trinity Consultants said that since its founding in 1997, WestLand Resources has gained a reputation for scientific rigor, technical excellence, and quality in environmental planning and permitting, cultural resources management, water resources engineering, landscape architecture, habitat restoration and natural resource management, facility compliance, and geographic information services.
Westland has more than 240 team members, including scientists, water and wastewater engineers, archaeologists, historians, ethnographers, environmental planners, landscape architects, and field technicians. It relies on technical excellence, out-of-the-box thinking, and a focus on client service to help their clients navigate the increasingly complex planning and regulatory landscape, Trinity said.
“WestLand shares our commitment to technical excellence and client service to address the complex planning and resource issues our society faces today,” Remsberg said. “The company’s complementary services, combined with its cultural synergies, will serve as the foundation to expand our engineering, planning, and environmental consulting businesses and ultimately set the stage for continued growth and innovation in North America.”
Trinity and WestLand have supported the same clients for decades and partnered on projects for shared clients since 2017. Most recently, WestLand teamed with Trinity Consultants on a number of renewable energy and mining projects throughout the west.
“As a 100% employee-owned company, providing opportunities for our employee owners will always be at the heart of every decision we make,” Jim Tress Jr., CEO and co-founder of WestLand Resources, said in a statement. “This partnership allows us to build on the synergies we have enjoyed while working with Trinity to expand our geographic footprint, diversify our projects and client base, provide greater opportunities for career advancement, and realize our strategic and financial objectives faster.”
WestLand will operate as a business unit within Trinity’s Water & Ecology division. WestLand COO Paul Tremel will immediately take over WestLand’s day-to-day operations and work closely with Remsberg, the company said. Trinity said that Tress will continue to be an important leader within the water and ecology business sector, focusing on clients and its consulting practice, and will work closely with Tremel and Remsberg to achieve greater opportunities post-acquisition.
