Dallas-based o9 Solutions—a leading enterprise AI software platform used by global manufacturers and retailers to plan their supply chains—has announced the launch of o9 Hyderabad in a bid to expand its significant operations in India.

o9 Hyderabad will be a hub for expanding the company’s R&D, product management, and global delivery operations in India. 

In a complementary move, o9 announced that in a partnership and collaboration with India’s Telangana state government, it will develop a “Supply Chain Skills Academy.” The academy’s goal: helping to make Hyderabad “a world-class talent hub for meeting the growing demand for skilled supply chain management employees from global companies.”

In July, o9 raised $116 million in new funding led by General Atlantic’s BeyondNetZero with existing investors KKR and Generation Investment Management. The raise boosted o9’s valuation to $3.7 billion, the company said.

“We will continue our strategy of client satisfaction and innovation as a driver of efficient growth across industry verticals and markets,” Chakri Gottemukkala, o9’s co-founder and CEO, said at the time. Today’s news seems to be yet another indication that o9 is seizing those opportunities.

The company has a growing customer base that includes PepsiCo, URBN, Nestle, ABInBev, Walmart Canada, Pirelli, New Balance, GE, and others.

Counting its new Hyderabad presence, o9 Solutions now operates 17 offices throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and India. The company has around 1,600 employees in India alone—with skills “spanning R&D, product management, implementation, and customer support functions, supporting the company’s global operations.”

“We’ve been especially impressed with the growth of Hyderabad’s infrastructure to absolutely world-class standards,” CEO Gottemukkala said in a statement.

Hyderabad move cemented during recent talks in Chicago

Gottemukkala said that recent talks in Chicago with K. Taraka Rama Rao, the minister for industries and commerce in Telangana, “reinforced our conviction that Hyderabad is the right place for o9 India’s next phase of growth. We are thrilled to be starting o9 Hyderabad immediately.”

For his part, the Telangana industries and commerce minister, said that o9 co-founders Gottemukkala and Sanjiv Sidhu “are not just exceptional entrepreneurs and foremost experts in supply chain technology—they also have deep Hyderabadi roots. As such, we look forward to partnering with them closely to help make Hyderabad and Telangana a hub for delivering world class supply chain talent to global companies.”

In addition to o9’s own global operations, the company said, the world’s leading solution integrators and professional services companies “are developing implementation practices with thousands of consultants to serve the demand from global companies for o9 software.”

“Hundreds of the world’s largest enterprises across a wide range of industries leverage o9’s AI-powered Digital Brain platform to transform their supply chain, commercial and integrated business planning and decision-making capabilities,” o9 noted in a statement.
