Eaton Corporation—a global intelligent power management company based in Cleveland, Ohio—is making a half-billion-dollar investment in its North American manufacturing “to meet rapidly increasing demand for the company’s electrical solutions across utility, commercial, data center, healthcare, industrial and residential markets.” And some of that investment is coming to North Texas.
In an announcement today, Eaton said it’s expanding its 626,439-square-foot distribution facility in Southern Dallas to serve “commercial, data center, industrial, healthcare, and communications customers.”
Eaton opened the distribution facility, at 9890 Bonnie View Road, in 2020 as part of a $100 million expansion of its North American electrical manufacturing and distribution centers for commercial and residential customers and distributors. At the time, the company said the Dallas facility was opened “to optimize service levels for customers across the country.”
Eaton has an additional presence across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including offices and facilities in Grapevine, Sherman, and Fort Worth.
Founded in 1911, Eaton reported $20.8 billion in 2022 revenue
Eaton has been around a long time—while staking a presence around the world. Founded in 1911, the company is marking its 100th anniversary this year of being listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Serving customers in more than 170 countries, Eaton reported revenues of $20.8 billion in 2022.
The company said the majority of its $500 million investment announced today “will be complete by 2024 or 2025.”
‘Electrical infrastructure has to work harder and smarter’
According to Mike Yelton, Americas president of Eaton’s electrical sector, “Electrical infrastructure has to work harder and smarter to accelerate decarbonization and electrification.”
“At Eaton, we’re all in on the energy transition, and our solutions are essential to reinvent the way power is distributed, stored and consumed,” Yelton added in a statement. “We’re making steady investments for our customers, distributors, and employees to meet growing demand in the Americas, and there will be more to come.”
Investing in East Texas manufacturing, too
Along with its Dallas distribution center expansion, Eaton said it’s 200,000 square feet to its Nacogdoches, Texas, manufacturing facility—more than doubling its size and creating more than 200 skilled manufacturing jobs.
The Nacogdoches project will double production capacity of Eaton’s voltage regulators to help utility customers across North America “accelerate grid modernization and resilience projects,” Eaton said.
Eaton said it will continue to produce “single-phase, pole-mount, and pad-mount transformers” in Texas to address the acute supply shortage for these products.
