When Capital One celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony at Frisco’s Stonebriar Centre in August, they also cut through conventional ideas about banking with the opening of its first North Texas banking café.
Neighboring the mall’s retail giants, the new Capital One Café is part coffeehouse, part workspace, and wholly dedicated to serving the community.
Walk in, and you won’t find a single teller line or banker’s desk.
“Whether you bank with us or not, this is your café. Take time to unwind,” the bank said. Popping up nationwide, the cafés emphasize the “personal” in personal finance, blending financial services with community needs.
The bank-coffee shop hybrid is meant as a place to “kick back, relax, and refuel.” But you can also cover your financial needs with its café ambassador and ATMs, according to the company.
The space is designed for “everyday well-being,” offering food and beverages alongside amenities like free Wi-Fi and semi-private workspaces. Food options include locally baked treats, savory and sweet snacks, and other cafe-style foods.
Money talks, but it also listens
Beyond a convenient pitstop for a coffee or quick transaction, Capital One hopes the café will be a cornerstone where people can meet “life and money goals.”
To that end, the space incorporates educational tools like the “Money & Life” program, which the bank says helps people “create personalized action plans to help them achieve their life and money goals.”
Guests will also find custom art from local artists featured alongside financial resources to create free personalized programs.
The café serves as a community hub, Capital One says, equipped with room for local nonprofits and others to host events. “We partner with local nonprofits, and we help businesses in the area,” according to a national Capital One ambassador.
The café has a large nook available for nonprofits to reserve for free. Two other nooks are available, also for free, on a first-come, first-serve basis. A spokesperson says the spaces all have tables and chairs and are nearly soundproof when you close the doors.
What’s brewing
And for caffeine aficionados? Capital One is “proud to pour Verve Coffee,” a specialty coffee roaster that sources and roasts some of the world’s highest-quality coffee by partnering directly with producers.
Capital One wants your caffeine fix to be a quality cup, pairing well with whatever task you have at hand at the new Frisco café. A specialty is the honey lavender latte, and syrups from scratch. Plus, a representative says, if you pay using a Capital One debit or credit card, guests get 50% off their drink.
And as the café ambassadors put it, “We’re here for you whenever you need us.”
