In December, the U.S. Postal Service announced plans to acquire at least 66,000 battery electric delivery vehicles between now and 2028. All those vehicles will have to be charged up, though—and now a company whose parent is headquartered in Dallas has been enlisted to help.
Rexel Energy Solutions, a business unit of Dallas-based Rexel USA, has been awarded a three-year contract with the U.S. Postal Service for the supply of EV charging stations to be deployed at Postal Service facilities. The three-year contract includes two additional two-year options, with a potential maximum of 41,500 stations that could be delivered.
Rexel Energy Solutions is one of the country’s leading distributors of EV charging products and services. Based in Taunton, Massachusetts, it also delivers energy optimization and electrification programs and solutions.
Helping to electrify ‘the nation’s largest federal fleet’
“Rexel Energy Solutions is proud to be selected to support the U.S. Postal Service in the electrification of the nation’s largest federal fleet,” Christopher Monoson, president of RES. said in a statement. “The awarding of this contract solidifies Rexel and RES’ leadership in providing electrification solutions across the United States. Rexel’s commitment to our Environmental Sustainability, Social, and Governance strategic roadmap and our goal to be the leading sustainable solutions resource to our customers align perfectly with the U.S. Postal Service project.”
Over the past three years, RES says it’s developed and implemented solutions “to support EV infrastructure throughout the country,” investing “millions of dollars” in the process while training inside consultants and hiring a team of experienced EV specialists with more than 25 years of experience.
Its Dallas-based parent is one of the largest distributors of electrical products, data communication, and related supplies in the U.S., going to market in electrical distribution under business names including Rexel, Rexel Automation, Gexpro, Mayer, and Platt Electric Supply. In addition to its online store, Rexel USA says its distribution network includes over 440 warehouse storefront locations throughout the country.
There’s a French accent behind all this: Paris-headquartered Rexel Group is a global expert in the professional multichannel distribution of energy products and services. Its international network includes over 1,900 branches in 24 countries, with more than 26,000 employees worldwide.
