In the past year, Dallas-Fort Worth added jobs at a rate placing it as the No. 1 job generator in the nation at year’s end, according to research by JLL.
DFW added nearly 115,000 jobs last year, a 3.3 percent growth rate, JLL said.
Walter Bialas, vice president and market research director for JLL in Dallas, said DFW has added 732,000 jobs since the end of the recession in 2010. That’s a job-count equivalent to adding a metropolitan region the size of Salt Lake City, Utah, to the DFW economy.
The job growth in Dallas-Fort Worth during that period equates to 3.9 percent of all U.S. job gains, and it is driving real estate demand for all property types, JLL said.

Plano is one of the cities that is driving job growth in North Texas, and according to a study by WalletHub, the city ranked No. 2 in the nation for jobs. Dallas ranked No. 21.
“We are excited WalletHub named the city of Plano the second beset city in America for jobs,” Plano City Manager Bruce Glasscock told the Dallas Business Journal. “But frankly, we’re not surprised.”
By 2027, Plano officials see the city gaining more than 60,000 jobs, according to the DBJ.
