Philadelphia-headquartered Comcast Business, the country’s largest cable provider to small and mid-size businesses, has signed an agreement to acquire local networking services provider Masergy.
The deal will accelerate Comcast Business’ growing effort to serve more large and mid-size companies, according to a news release. It specifically wants to increase efforts in U.S.-based organizations with operations at multiple sites across the globe.
Comcast Business is a brand of global media and technology company Comcast Corporation.
“Masergy provides a perfect complement to our portfolio of enterprise services and solutions and will allow us to instantly and dramatically amplify our growth in the global enterprise market,” Bill Stemper, president of Comcast Business, said in a statement. “We’re excited to welcome Masergy’s employees and leadership to Comcast Business as we bring continued innovation and superior experience to our customers.”
Masergy is a Plano-based leader in providing software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud platforms to global enterprises of all sizes. Using its cloud and network platform, Masergy enables secure application performance and says it helps companies digitally transform.
Throughout its more than two decades in managed network, cloud, and security services, the company has grown to serve more than 1,400 customers in around 100 countries. Its portfolio includes Managed SD-WAN, Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Call Center as a Service (CCaaS), and Managed Security solutions.

Comcast Business said that combining its advanced fiber network with Masergy’s services will allow its customers to more efficiently and securely manage their international operations and networks.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
