Boss Women Media, an online membership platform and women’s empowerment community, has teamed up with mobile payment platform Square to host a four-week virtual “Home Hustler” Program to support women-owned businesses.
The four-week educational series will provide businesswomen with insights from industry experts and the opportunity to connect with like-minded creators and entrepreneurs through virtual panel discussions and classes. Each week varies in topics of discussion, including business plans, the digital landscape, elevator pitches, diversifying revenue, and scaling businesses.
“Black women represent the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the United States—and many new entrepreneurs are launching their businesses alongside corporate careers,” according to the Boss Media group. That “side hustle” represents the future of business, it said, which “underscores the need to support Black entrepreneurs with education and resources as more women venture into the world of owning a business.”
Creating that space for Black women is a mission for Boss Women Media founder and CEO Marty McDonald, who wants to “empower them as leaders in communities across the country.”
“We are especially proud to partner with Square as they continue to support our vision and serve as an ally by helping women launch the businesses of their dreams, leading to long-term wealth and economic impact across the country,” McDonald said in a statement.
At the end of the four-week program, female entrepreneurs will get a chance to win funding for their businesses through a pitch competition. Square and Boss Women Media are awarding one business owner a $5,000 reward for the best pitch idea.
“At Square, we’re committed to supporting women-owned businesses as they grow and innovate,” Shawntee Reed, Square’s Head of Inclusion and Diversity, said in a statement. “From creating the ability to launch an online presence in a matter of hours to offering curbside pickup and on-demand delivery to hosting informational workshops, we’re focused on providing the tools needed to run a business—even when it’s not business as usual.”
The Home Hustler program will consist of two-hour workshops held on Oct. 17, 24,31, and Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST. For more information about the digital event series, go here.
