Children’s Health and Parkland Memorial Hospital have something to crow about, as both Dallas hospitals were included in Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of the nation’s 50 most-environmentally friendly hospitals.
The annual list honors the nation’s greenest hospitals, D Healthcare Daily said.
Becker’s included Children’s for its dedication to renewable energy credits, D Healthcare said. Parkland was cited for its efforts to achieve LEED Gold certification.
According to Becker’s, roughly a quarter of Children’s Health’s total electricity usage is backed by renewable energy credits. That’s the equivalent of removing more than 16 million pounds per year of carbon dioxide from the environment.
Becker’s said that Parkland Memorial and its Women & Infants Special Health Clinic were awarded the LEED Gold certification in 2015 for its new building. The hospital earned LEED Gold for its garage in 2013. Parkland also was cited for its water-efficient landscaping.
