UK-based Ideagen, a global compliance software company serving regulated industries, has acquired Plano-based SafetyStratus, the company announced Thursday.
The acquisition adds specialized chemical management capabilities to Ideagen’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) platform, according to Ideagen. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SafetyStratus, incubated at Cornell University in 2011 and headquartered in Plano, helps organizations reduce operational costs through its EHS software platform, which focuses on chemical management for university labs, commercial laboratories, and large enterprises.
Its platform automates compliance programs regulated by the Joint Commission, EPA, OSHA, and FDA, with modules that cover chemical inventory, radiation, hazardous waste, and biosafety. The company says it serves more than 500,000 users across 10,000 locations worldwide.
Ben Dorks, CEO of Ideagen, said the deal reflects growing demand from customers in life sciences, healthcare, energy and manufacturing. “Our customers … need sophisticated chemical management solutions that understand the complexity of their operations,” he said in a statement. “SafetyStratus brings exactly that—deep expertise in chemical inventory, radiation safety and hazardous waste management that goes far beyond traditional EHS platforms.”
Ideagen plans to roll out the new capabilities as Ideagen Chemical Management, part of its EHS and quality management portfolio. According to the company, SafetyStratus customers have reduced operational risks by more than 70% using the software.
Aditya Avadhanula, CEO and co-founder of SafetyStratus, called the acquisition “an incredible opportunity to amplify what we’ve built over the past 15 years.” He said the company’s customer base spans from university research labs doing cutting-edge science to manufacturing facilities managing complex chemical processes.
For his team, he added, the deal means they can stay focused on solving the challenges of chemical management while leveraging Ideagen’s global scale.
“This acquisition validates that there’s real demand for chemical management solutions that understand the nuances of regulated industries,” Avadhanula said. “Together with Ideagen, we’re positioned to set new standards for how organizations handle chemical compliance, safety, and operational excellence.”
On LinkedIn, SafetyStratus said it was thrilled to become part of Ideagen’s global family, “combining our strengths to take Environmental, Health & Safety innovation to the next level.”
The SafetyStratus acquisition is Ideagen’s ninth of 2025, the company said. It follows a run of deals, including aviation noise monitoring business Casper in September; environmental monitoring solution Envirosuite, wearable tech company Reactec, and lone worker safety firm WorkSafe Guardian in August; food and beverage solutions SafeFood 360 and Authenticate in July; policy management solution ConvergePoint in June; and contractor management company Beakon in February.
The Texas-based deal also enhances Ideagen’s reach in government and security markets, according to the company. Its FedRAMP-authorized Ideagen Government Cloud provides EHS solutions for public sector clients, and its Ideagen National Security Solutions division serves organizations tied to national security.
Today, Ideagen says it serves more than 17,000 companies and nearly two million daily users, including 75% of the top global pharmaceutical companies, more than 900 hospital and healthcare centers, 250 aviation organizations, nine of the top 10 aerospace and defense corporations, nine of the top 10 accounting firms, 65% of the world’s leading food and beverage brands, and more than 1,000 government organizations.
