As evidenced by the booming suburbs surrounding Dallas and Fort Worth fueled by people moving to the region, North Texas is all about growth. And that also applies to the companies that call DFW home.
Based on revenue figures over the past three years, the 2022 Inc. 5000 list names the fastest-growing companies across the U.S., with 188 North Texas companies making the cut.
“The accomplishment of building one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic roadblocks, cannot be overstated,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that have established themselves through innovation, hard work, and rising to the challenges of today.”
Three North Texas companies are among the Top 20 nationwide
Collectively, those nearly 200 DFW-based companies saw a median growth rate of 252%, which translates to more than $19 billion in total revenue generated and more than 31,500 jobs created. Those numbers are significantly higher than those on last year’s Inc. 5000 list, which had 158 local companies with a median growth rate of 146% and a total of $10.7 billion in revenue.
With a median growth rate 20% higher in North Texas than at the national level, three local companies landed among the top 20 overall. Leading the way at No. 4 in the U.S. is Mansfield-based retail pharmacy network eTrueNorth, which saw a three-year growth rate of 42,428%. eTrueNorth was followed on the national rankings by Plano-based StaffDNA (No. 13), a healthcare staffing platform that saw a three-year growth rate of 19,699%, and Dallas roofing company Blue Hammer Roofing (No. 17), which saw a three-year growth rate of 15,911%.
DFW companies represent half of total revenue generated in Texas
At the state level, those three companies ranked first through third. When added with Fort Worth virtual health care firm TimelyMD (No. 6), Farmers Branch health care center operator Curis Functional Health (No. 8), and Plano-based analytics firm SmartLight Analytics (No. 9), North Texas companies made up more than half of the top 10 in the state. In total, while North Texas companies accounted for about 40% of businesses in the Lone Star State on the list, they made up slightly more than half of the state’s $38 billion generated by Texas companies on the list.
On the Inc. 5000 list, companies are ranked based on their revenue growth percentage. To qualify for this year’s list, the for-profit, privately held companies were required to have a minimum revenue of $100,000 by 2018 and a minimum of $2 million in 2021. In addition to providing business insights, the list acts as a marketing and press opportunity for businesses.
