Target, KaBOOM! Challenge Offers $720K for City Redevelopment Designs
The grants are to transform unconventional city spaces such as sidewalks, bus stops, and even laundromats into kid-friendly, playable "PLAces."
Playgrounds aren’t the only places acceptable for playtime.
KaBOOM! has teamed up with Target to create the Play Everywhere Challenge, offering $720,000 in grants to transform unconventional city spaces — sidewalks, bus stops, and even laundromats — into kid-friendly, playable “PLAces.”
The grants will be allocated among Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, and Miami. The Challenge is geared to eliminate barriers of physical activity and encourage children of every socioeconomic background to engage in daily play.
Visit apply.kaboom.org beginning July 24 to submit an application. To apply, you must be a registered 501(c)(3) public charity or an agency sponsoring a registered charity. The project must have a budget averaging $20,000 and be implemented by April 15, 2018.
Previous “Play Everywhere” designs and Play Everywhere Playbook are available now for additional information and inspiration.
There also is a pre-application webinar, or sign up for the live webinar at 1 p.m., Aug. 2 for more.
