Postal Service Tightens Security to Protect Workers and Crack Down on Postal Crimes

The move is a result of increases in threats and attacks on letter carriers and in mail fraud incidents, which have escalated along with a national rise in crime. The agencies recently updated Congress on the problems, and say the new measures will help safeguard mail and packages in Dallas-Fort Worth and across the nation.

In December, the U.S. Postal Service announced plans to acquire at least 66,000 battery electric delivery vehicles between now and 2028. All those vehicles will have to be charged up, though—and now a company whose parent is headquartered in Dallas has been enlisted to help. Rexel Energy Solutions, a business unit of Dallas-based Rexel USA, has been awarded a three-year contract with the U.S. Postal Service for the supply of EV charging stations to be deployed at Postal Service facilities.

The U.S. Postal Service announced plans Tuesday to acquire at least 66,000 battery electric delivery vehicles between now and 2028, in a move to begin replacing its aging delivery fleet of over 220,000 vehicles.
