UT Dallas Hosts Largest-Ever GCEC Conference, Wins ‘Entrepreneurial Leadership’ Honor for Innovation Institute

The annual conference of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers featured more than 700 leaders from universities around the world taking part in more than 140 breakout sessions. More than a year and a half in the making, it saw the presentation of honors and awards to 12 universities—including a key honor for UTD's Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which hosted the event.

An active VC investor for nearly 15 years, Healy went in full-bore in September by founding Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners. With $5 million raised since its launch, the"MoSe" fund has focused on Tiff's Treats, Siempre Tequila, laundry and dryer fragrance startup Laundry Sauce, and Catch'N Ice Cream.

Blake Wiley and Grant Christopher reviewed 300 companies before deciding on the CPG fund's first 3 "disrupter" investments—Austin-based Tiff's Treats; Chicago cloud-kitchen startup Epic Kitchens; and a California plant-based supplements firm.
As the VCs search for five more startups, they believe co-investing will triple their fund's holdings to $45 million.
