The Prosper Police Department recently posted a photo of its $689,000 mine-resistant armored vehicle parked outside town hall for the city's annual Chrome and Coffee car show. That caused some buzz in the comments, the Dallas Observer reported, with some wondering why a small (but growing) city would need such a massive, militarized vehicle. The department responded with our Last Word today and noted that the high-tech vehicle was obtained at no cost to Prosper through the Federal 1033 program.
