The acquisition includes three combined cycle gas turbine facilities and two combustion turbine facilities located across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland; four combined cycle gas turbine facilities in New England, and one ERCOT cogeneration facility in Texas.

In its first phase, the hyperscale campus northwest of Waco will encompass more than 190,000 square feet, with scalable capacity to meet future demand. It will feature "climate-neutral initiatives, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and capabilities to respond during ERCOT grid emergencies," the companies said.

The move follows JBB's $12 billion sale of Tronic in March. Proteus is an international developer of utility-scale renewable energy. Its headquarters in Houston will move to JBB Advanced Technologies' headquarters in Carrollton, with all current employees being retained, and a branch office is planned for Lubbock, JBB said.
