Texas Women for the Arts Opens Applications for 2024 Arts Education Grants

The Texas Cultural Trust’s giving circle invests in arts education for kids across Texas. The deadline to apply for the 2024 cycle is December 1.

In June, the Texas Women for the Arts awarded over $294,000 in 2023 grants to 41 organizations across Texas, including seven in North Texas.

Charmaine Tang, who most recently was a senior client strategist at BNY Mellon, is the first "boots on the ground" in the U.S. for Zurich-based ORCA AG. Founded in 2017, the Swiss software and services firm offers an SaaS platform with solutions from wealth structuring to tax, compliance, succession planning, and more. "My #1 focus is on growing the U.S. market," Tang told Dallas Innovates, noting that ORCA views North Texas "as a super high-growth metro market" for her company's software and services.

The newly created Dallas Economic Development Corporation is a nonprofit aimed at attracting new businesses to the city, while supporting economic and workforce development. Formed with the help of $7 million in federal money from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Dallas EDC now has its first board of directors, after receiving approval from the Dallas City Council. “The corporation will play an integral part in growing the Dallas business community, and we need passionate and qualified people at the helm,” said Councilmember Tennell Atkins, chairman of the city’s Economic Development Committee.
