A 2-mile hot zone along the Southwestern Medical District in Dallas is getting a cool makeover. The city's biggest urban heat island is slated to be turned into a dedicated green space.

Kids that have cancer are sometimes seen as victims. But Salood gives them a chance to be heroes, by becoming "ambassadors" who help create and design products—with proceeds helping the families of pediatric cancer patients in need.
"These kids are very aspirational," says co-founder Kenny Freeland. " I think sometimes when the public looks at a kid with an illness, they forget that there's still a kid deep down there who has dreams and wants to do big things."
