StateScoop has included city of Dallas Chief Information Officer William Zielinski among the winners of City Executive of the Year awards in the LocalSmart program by the online news publication that focuses on technology in local government.
“As we close out 2022, StateScoop is honored to recognize these dynamic leaders in city, county and municipal government,” the publication said in announcing the honorees. Across the country, “technology is playing an increasingly important role in residents’ lives. These leaders are the ones making that happen in an efficient, secure and prominent way.”
StateScoop is a media brand that covers the intersection of technology and government.
The city of Dallas said that as CIO, Zielinski has begun to change the entire technology culture and move the city toward becoming leaders in technology.
Zielinski, who spent three decades in the federal IT space, took the Dallas helm in 2020.
Since, the CIO has focused on optimizing the city’s infrastructure to remove technological debt and improve the city’s cybersecurity to best in class for the region, the city said.
In its fourth year, the LocalSmart Awards program honors the visionaries who transform local government to make a difference in the lives of citizens. The awards celebrate the achievements of those who work to make a lasting impact in the government IT community.
