Fans of “Only Murders in the Building,” the Hulu comedy starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, know that Season 4 ended with the murder of the Arconia’s doorman, Lester. That created an opening in the cast for a new doorman, and a robot sold by North Texas’ RobotLAB has scooted right into it.
The robot, officially named Cruzr and manufactured by Shenzhen, China-based UBTECH Robotics, has been christened L.E.S.T.R. on the Hulu show’s recently debuted fifth season, in honor of the departed doorman.
Southlake-based RobotLAB said Cruzr is a cloud-based, intelligent humanoid robot designed to transform customer engagement across industries. Its advanced navigation, interactive communication, and customizable applications have enabled it to become “a trusted solution for businesses seeking to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency,” the company added.
“We’re thrilled to see our robots step into mainstream entertainment,” RobotLAB CEO Elad Inbar said in a statement. “This collaboration highlights the growing role of service robots in society and reinforces our mission to bring robotics into everyday life. This demonstrates RobotLAB’s ability to provide the last mile of robotics and related services to customers through our extensive franchise network.”
Cruzr can currently be seen demonstrating his acting chops in Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building,” streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
