A New Way to Keep Foundations From Cracking, Moving

The technique involves installing piers, lifting mechanisms and post-tension cables before the slab is poured.

Foundations

Shifting soil has caused foundations to crack and doors to stick for decades in North Texas but one local entrepreneur has found a solution.

And, it’s affordable for any foundation, not just large, custom homes.

The CEO of Tella Firma Foundations has raised $1.6 million from the North Texas Angel Network and Enhanced Capital, The Dallas Morning News reports. So far, he’s installed about 1,000 foundations throughout the Dallas area.

It works by installing piers, lifting mechanisms and post-tension cables before the slab is poured. The equipment can even be adjusted later if needed.

For a $400,000 house, Tella Firma’s foundation additions would add about $4,000 to the cost of a traditional slab house.
