Medline Breaks Ground on 1.2 Million‑SF Distribution Center in Midlothian

Illinois-based Medline is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of medical products and healthcare supplies in the U.S. Its new Midlothian distribution center is slated to be fully operational in Q2 of 2027. The project comes on the heels of Medline's initial public offering in December.

Global medical products provider Medline broke ground this week on a new 1.2 million-square-foot distribution center in Midlothian, part of its plans to expand its national network of 45 distribution centers across the U.S.

Medline’s first new distribution center announced this year is slated to be fully operational in Q2 of 2027 and comes on the heels of its initial public offering in December. Headquartered in Northfield, Illinois, Medline employs more than 45,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries.

“Today we have more than 26 million square feet of warehouse space in the U.S., and we are continuing to invest in our network as our customers’ needs grow,” Sean Halligan, EVP of Medline operations, said in a statement. “Our vast network of distribution centers, 80 days of on-hand inventory, advanced technologies and owned fleet of trucks demonstrate our relentless focus on our customers and our drive to meet their evolving and growing needs.”

This will be the company’s second distribution center in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, complementing its Wilmer location as Medline’s customer base continues to grow in the region. The Midlothian center is designed with the same advanced technologies used at Medline’s other large distribution centers, including the AutoStore storage and retrieval system, the company said.

The Midlothian distribution center will serve North Texas healthcare providers spanning the continuum of care, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician offices, nursing homes, and hospices.

“Our network of distribution centers strategically located across the country enables us to provide next-day delivery to 95% of our customers in the U.S.,” Halligan said. “We were thrilled many of our local customers, elected officials and community stakeholders in Midlothian joined us in celebrating this exciting groundbreaking.”
