Michael Wheat has been appointed as managing director of the North Texas Retail Group by Dallas-based real estate services giant JLL, marking a significant step in the expansion of retail services across Dallas-Fort Worth.
Naveen Jaggi, president of JLL’s Retail Advisory Services, said the firm continues to prioritize investments in its people and business and recognizes the “pivotal role top-tier leadership plays in markets like Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the nation’s top five major retail metros.”
In a statement, Jaggi added that Wheat’s “extensive experience at the local and national level will be a valuable asset in driving the growth of our business.”
Wheat has more than 25 years of real estate experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to drive growth in the Dallas retail market, focusing on landlord and tenant representation, the firm said.
Before JLL, Wheat served as the managing director, overseeing leasing for the U.S. portfolio at Cypress Equities. During his tenure there, he managed leasing and asset management efforts for a portfolio encompassing 10.5 million square feet.
He also held positions at Trammell Crow Co. and The MG Herring Group, where he represented renowned clients such as OshKosh, Chico’s, Citibank, and Sears.
Wheat said he has “continued to be impressed by the personnel and product growth” he has seen at JLL, “not only in Dallas but across the country.”
He added that being part of the Dallas team is a “tremendous opportunity” to serve JLL clients and expand retail business in North Texas.
Wheat attended the University of Kansas.
JLL is a Fortune 500 company with annual revenue of $20.8 billion and operations in over 80 countries around the world. It has more than 106,000 employees.
