Sports outside in July can get sweaty in North Texas. But thanks to augmented reality and high-tech simulators, a sports lounge in Grapevine is giving athletes even more high-tech ways to keep their cool as they swing, toss, roll, and score.
Crush It! Sports Lounge, at 401 W. State Highway 114 in Grapevine, recently opened a 3,800-square-foot expansion it’s calling Crush It! 2.0. The added space features two lanes of augmented reality “social darts,” six lanes of Duckpin Social bowling, and new sports-themed arcade games. An enhanced craft cocktail and food menu is also now available for “an upgraded dining experience.”
“My long-term vision for Crush It was to create a gathering place where people could come socialize and have a blast with friends, family, or coworkers,” the sports lounge’s founder, Mike Speets, said in a statement. “Crush It 2.0 is just an expansion of this vision to provide even more unique competitive activities for our customers and host parties of up to 250 people. More space equals more fun!”
Launched in 2020 with multi-sport simulators
Speets launched Crush It! in 2020 right at the onset of the pandemic, offering six multi-sport Full Swing Golf simulators. In the years since, he’s grown his attractions to “over 15 sports and activities,” including hockey, football, soccer, baseball, and more. A climate-controlled patio and scratch-made food and drinks are also on tap.
The venue now offers steak, shrimp, fried avocado, hot honey chicken tacos, and additional appetizers for what it calls “a gourmet bar experience.” On the cocktails side, it’s now offering a top shelf frozen margarita, prickly pear gimlet, espresso martini, cannabis THC/CBD infused seltzers, and various other craft cocktails.
There are also multiple large-screen TVs for people who’d rather watch people play sports than do it themselves, augmented reality or otherwise.
You can see a video of people playing various virtual sports at Crush It! on its website.
