New York-based Foot Locker shared two big pieces of news in its 2Q 2024 earnings report Wednesday. One, it’s moving its headquarters from Manhattan to St. Petersburg, Florida, in 2025, citing “expense discipline” as a key factor. Two—and far more pertinent to North Texas innovation—the company is opening its Global Technology Services Hub in North Texas in September.
Foot Locker (NYSE: FL) said the “technology and innovation center” will be led by its chief technology officer, Adrian Butler.
Citing region’s ‘best-in-class technology talent pool’
The new hub will aim to “accelerate technology delivery and cross-functional collaboration with access to a best-in-class technology talent pool,” Foot Locker said.
The tech services hub will be located at 3001 Hackberry Road in Irving and will create 200 to 250 jobs over the next five years, CTO Butler told the Dallas Morning News’ José Sánchez Córdova, adding, ““Dallas is the ideal backdrop for this office given the city’s growing business community and large pool of tech talent.”
As for its Q2 earnings, Foot Locker said it had returned to topline growth with total sales up 1.9% and comparable sales up 2.6%, and had achieved gross margin expansion of 50 basis points year-over-year. The company added that it was further streamlining its international operations and optimizing its corporate office footprint.
