DallasNews Corp. Promotes Executive to Chief Financial Officer

Over the past six years, Cathy Collins has served in roles of increasing responsibility in finance leadership at the company. She previously worked for 16 years at ALM Media.

Cathy Collins has been promoted to chief financial officer of DallasNews Corp., reporting to company president Katy Murray.

The company said that over the last six years, Collins has served in roles of increasing responsibility in finance leadership. Prior to joining DallasNews Corp., Collins worked for 16 years with ALM Media, as controller for seven years and regional publisher for nine years.

“In this role, Cathy will assume direct responsibility from me for the finance, accounting, tax and internal audit teams,” Murray said in a statement. “Over the last six years, Cathy has strengthened not only her public accounting capabilities, but her financial planning and financial analysis competencies. I’m confident that her transition into this role will be smooth, and I’m very excited that she will be joining the company’s management committee.”

Collins said she’s looking forward to contributing to the company’s future.

Collins said she’s eager to contribute to DallasNews Corp.’s “continued success and growth,” adding that she looks forward “to working closely with the management committee and our talented teams to drive financial excellence and support our company’s strategic priority of being a sustainably profitable media and marketing company.”
