Adaptive fluid switches for autonomous flow control
Patent No. 11428072

Inventor(s): Liang Zhao (Allen, TX), Xinqi Rong (Dallas, TX)
Assignee(s): Floway, Inc. (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: Lawrence Youst PLLC (Local)
Application No., Date, Speed: 16900895 on 06/13/2020 (808 days app to issue)

Abstract: An adaptive fluid switch for regulating the production rate of a fluid. The adaptive fluid switch includes a fluid control module having a fluid selector, a swirl chamber and a self-impinging valve element. When the fluid produced through the adaptive fluid switch has a viscosity greater than a first predetermined level, the fluid selector determines the fluid to be a selected fluid such that the fluid swirls in one direction in the swirl chamber and follows a low resistance flow path in the valve element. When the fluid has a viscosity less than a second predetermined level, the fluid selector determines the fluid to be a non-selected fluid such that the fluid swirls in the opposite direction in the swirl chamber and follows a high resistance flow path in the valve element, thereby regulating the production rate of the fluid responsive to changes in the viscosity of the fluid.

Mitigation of voltage shift induced by mechanical stress in bandgap voltage reference circuits
Patent No. 11429125

Inventor(s): Jeffrey David Johnson (Tucson, AZ), Masahiro Yoshioka (Allen, TX)
Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 17205155 on 03/18/2021 (530 days app to issue)

Abstract: A bandgap voltage reference circuit includes first and second transistors (e.g., 3-terminal BJTs or diode-connected BJTs), and a PTAT element (e.g., resistance or capacitance). The first transistor is at a first die location, and operates with a first base-emitter voltage. The second transistor is at a second die location, and operates with a second base-emitter voltage. Each of the first and second transistors may include multiple individual parallel-connected transistors. The PTAT element is operatively coupled to the first and second transistors such that a voltage difference between the first and second base-emitter voltages drops across the PTAT element. The first and second locations are separated by a distance (e.g., 1.5% or more of die length, or such that the respective centroids of the first and second transistor are spaced from one another). Such spatial distribution helps mitigate voltage shift induced by mechanical stress, and is insensitive to process variation.
