Dallas-Based Hammar Lift Partners With CraneWorks to Bring Its Sideloaders to U.S. Market

The U.S. division of Sweden-based Hammar is seeking wide U.S. adoption of its venerable Sideloader—which combines two hydraulic sideloading cranes with a semi-trailer or truck to lift up to 110,000 pounds.

Dallas-based Hammar Lift Inc. is partnering with Houston-based CraneWorks to bring Hammar’s advanced “smart and simple” container‑handling and heavy lift solutions to a wider U.S. market.

Hammar Lift Inc. is the U.S. division of Sweden-based Hammar, a global leader in Sideloader trailers and superstructures.

Under the partnership, CraneWorks will serve as the U.S. installation, service, and parts support partner for Hammar Sideloaders, utilizing CraneWorks’ nationwide network to advance the project. CraneWorks partnered with and received an investment from Equity Group Investments—the private investment firm founded by Sam Zell—in October 2023.

“Joining with CraneWorks is a key step in broadening our footprint in the United States,” Hammar Lift Inc. VP David Gustafsson said in a statement. “CraneWorks’ nationwide service network, heavy‑equipment expertise, and customer‑first culture make them an ideal partner for supporting our Sideloader solutions in the U.S. marketplace.”

Details on the Hammar Sideloader

With a record of more than 50 years of innovation, Hammar has delivered Sideloaders to over 125 countries worldwide, the company said. So what exactly does a Sideloader do?

A Hammar Sideloader is a flexible solution for lifting and transporting containers, flat racks, and more, with an ability to support up to 110,000 lbs. It combines two hydraulic sideloading cranes with a semi-trailer or truck, enabling efficient handling and transport of containers, flat racks, and more, Hammar said.

The solution’s key capabilities include high lifting capacities, container stacking, and transfer of units on and off other vehicles. It takes just one person to operate the machine, which is said to be “easy to learn” and equipped with a comprehensive safety system.

“We’re excited to join forces with Hammar Lift because their best‑in‑class Sideloader technology complements our goal of expanding lifting solutions beyond traditional crane models and into broader logistics, transport, and specialized lifting applications,” CraneWorks President & COO Mike Evans said in the statement. “This partnership allows us to help provide a versatile, efficient, and safe product line that aligns with our values of reliability, performance, and service.”

The companies said the partnership will begin with U.S. installations, service support, and localized parts supply to support Hammar equipment nationwide.
