Dallas-based AMN Healthcare Services, Inc. (NYSE: AMN), has tapped Brian Scott as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Scott, a seasoned executive with a long history at AMN, returns to the company on Nov. 21 after serving as CFO and Chief Accounting Officer from 2011 to 2021. According to the company, he oversaw a significant period of growth and transformation during his previous tenure.
Most recently, Scott served as CFO of Jack in the Box Inc., where he led financial strategy for the restaurant franchisor before deciding to return to AMN.
In his new dual role, Scott will oversee both finance and operations as the healthcare talent and technology solutions company continues to scale and automate its business model. His appointment comes as AMN looks to strengthen its operational capabilities and financial performance, following mixed financial results in the first quarter of 2024. In a separate announcement, the company reaffirmed its financial outlook for the third quarter, with results set to be released on Nov. 7.
Scott will replace current CFO Jeffrey Knudson, who is stepping down on Nov. 8, to pursue an opportunity outside the healthcare industry.
Cary Grace, president and CEO of AMN, praised Scott’s deep expertise and familiarity with the company’s strategic goals. “I’m excited to welcome Brian back to AMN,” Grace said. “As we focus on enhancing operational excellence and delivering strong financial returns, Brian brings a deep knowledge of AMN, significant industry expertise, and an impressive track record in financial and capital management. He is a well-respected, results-driven leader who can hit the ground running.”
Scott originally joined AMN in 2004 and played a pivotal role in driving the company’s financial success. Under his leadership as CFO, AMN saw a fourfold increase in quarterly revenue and a 13x rise in adjusted EBITDA between 2010 and 2021, growth largely fueled by several high-impact acquisitions, according to the company.
Scott holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California Polytechnic State University.
Earlier this summer, AMN added former Baylor Scott & White Health CEO Jim Hinton to its board of directors. In July, CEO Grace said Hinton’s “experience in leading major health systems with a focus on operational excellence and clinician engagement will be invaluable.”
AMN Healthcare, headquartered in the Cypress Waters corporate hub in Dallas, provides a comprehensive network of healthcare professionals and workforce solutions for healthcare organizations. The company provides talent and technology solutions to healthcare organizations nationwide, helping address workforce shortages and improve access to care.
